The architecture
The Sketchup model and Lumion model are in the file "Arch1101 Project 2".
This station was designed partly based on one of Mies van der Rohe’s idea creating unrestrained space that flows. The whole station contains several floors but there is no obvious barrier between them. The barrier between interior and exterior is also removed by adopting large pieces of glasses. These glass walls also allows sunshine to come in. In this way, people can enjoy good nature lighting during day time and see beautiful sunset in evening.
This station also shows Studio Gang’s idea of social revitalization, which could indicate the enabling citizens to communicate and interact is public area. In this station, the building is open so the ventilation is good and people’s sense of oppression is not likely to be be caused, which is important during traffic rush hours.
In order to create a feeling of clear and smooth, which could be seen in Mies van der Rohe’s works, I created many white organic columns and used soften edges to make them smooth. The handle of stairs were also made in this way. I also used the geometrical shapes as the body shape of this station to indicate the feature of Studio Gang’s work.
Overall view (Each image shows a texture)
Small rest rooms were placed under the stairs so that people could have chats and rests over here. This point also shows the concept "social revitalization". The space of the other 2 row of stairs could also be used as bicycle parking area.

While traveling in a fast speed, the light rail vehicles are likely to lead to a strong force and attract things to it. In order to avoid danger, the rail was elevated from the waitting area. Rhythmic texture is adopted on this floor and people could see them through the long glass stairs.
Here is the view of sunset, which is my favorite. Benefits from the glass walls, the shadows of columns, stairs people and railway could be seen clearly on the ground, which is quite pretty.
